Common questions

Do I need planning permission for an extension?

Not always. Many single storey extensions fall under permitted development, which means they don't need a full planning application. It depends on the size, the position on the house, whether it's been extended before and where you live. We'll check at the first visit and handle the application if one is needed.

Do I need building regulations approval?

Almost certainly. Extensions, loft conversions and any work that changes the structure of your home need building regulations approval. We arrange it, book the inspections and make sure you get your completion certificate at the end.

Do you sort out the structural engineering?

Yes. If your project needs steel beams, new openings or changes to load bearing walls, we arrange the structural calculations and drawings, so building control and the build team are working from the same plans.

How long will my project take?

Every job is different, and the planning stage often takes longer than the build itself. After the first visit you'll get a clear timeline with your quote, and one point of contact who keeps you updated every week once work starts.

Can we stay in the house while you work?

Usually, yes. Most families stay at home during an extension or loft conversion, and we keep the site tidy, safe and secure. For a full renovation it can be easier to move out for part of the job, and we'll talk that through with you at the start.

How much will it cost?

It depends on the size, the finish and what's involved structurally, so we don't give prices before seeing the space. The first consultation is free, and you'll get a clear, written quote that shows exactly what's included.

Not sure where to start?

Tell us what you'd like to change and we'll come and talk it through. There's no charge for the first consultation.
